To elucidate the mechanism of NEFA action, N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), a ROS scavenger was used to verify the role of ROS in NEFA induced apoptosis of GCs. NAC pretreatment reversed the NEFA-induced ERS-related protein and apoptosis-related protein levels. Meanwhile, NAC pretreatment also blocked the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38 induced by NEFA, and the nucleation of Nrf2 and p53, suggesting that ROS plays a crucial role in regulating the NEFA-induced apoptosis of GCs. Together, these findings provide an improved understanding of the mechanisms underlying GCs apoptosis, which could potentially be useful for improving ovarian function.Hydrothermal crystallization was used to synthesize an advanced hybrid system containing titania and molybdenum disulfide (with a TiO2MoS2 molar ratio of 11). We examined changes in energy and macronutrients after bariatric surgery and performed analysis to establish appropriate nutritional guidelines for reaching the target percentage of weight loss after surgery. A total of 189 subjects who underwent bariatric surgery were classified into success and failure groups depending on whether or not they reached 50% loss of excess weight at 12 months after bariatric surgery. Physical examinations and dietary surveys were completed before and 1, 6, and 12 months after surgery. Using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, the optimal cutoff points for nutrient intakes for determining success after bariatric surgery were computed based on maximal Youden's index. At 6 and 12 months after surgery, the success group had significantly lower carbohydrate and fat intakes than the failure group. The cutoff calorie intake for success in weight loss was 24.5, and less then 28.0%, respectively. Our findings confirm that the level of diet control and nutrition restriction affect the achievement of target weight loss, emphasizing that long-term weight loss is related to compliance with nutrient recommendations.The aim of this study is to develop a systematic review on the relationship between the use of active video games "exergames" and the practice of physical activity. The Web of Science (WOS) repository was used as the main search engine, using as criteria the selection of longitudinal and experimental studies published in the last five years. A total of eight research papers were obtained, in which intervention programs based on the use of exergames were applied to improve different parameters, such as adherence to Physical Activity practice or improvement on a psychological level. As the main findings, it was possible to observe the need to include these types of devices in the classroom since they can work transversally across much content, and the resources are so accessible that they allow improvements at academic level. Likewise, they favor motivation to physical exercise since with adequate volume and intensity parameters, they are related to healthier lifestyles, and the areas of motor skills and logical thinking benefited the most.The correct management of patients with multimorbidity remains one of the main challenges for healthcare systems worldwide. In this study, we analyze the existence of multimorbidity patterns in the general population based on gender and age. We conducted a cross-sectional study of individuals of all ages from the EpiChron Cohort, Spain (1,253,292 subjects), and analyzed the presence of systematic associations among chronic disease diagnoses using exploratory factor analysis. We identified and clinically described a total of 14 different multimorbidity patterns (12 in women and 12 in men), with some relevant differences in the functions of age and gender. The number and complexity of the patterns was shown to increase with age in both genders. We identified associations of circulatory diseases with respiratory disorders, chronic musculoskeletal diseases with depression and anxiety, and a very consistent pattern of conditions whose co-occurrence is known as metabolic syndrome (hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidaemia), among others. Our results demonstrate the potential of using real-world data to conduct large-scale epidemiological studies to assess the complex interactions among chronic conditions.
